I fell in love with these gorgeous grey Freshwater Cultured Pearls, the dark pearls are called black pearls, but, all black pearls are shades of grey, these are defiantly grey with a blue almost purple hue. They are luminous, shinny and smooth, they look like high quality Tahitian pearls.
I wanted to combine the dark grey-blue-purple pearls (8mm long) with gold to create a rich, warm piar of earrings. I handshaped and hammered , heavy gauge 14k Gold Filled wire to create a wonderful design that represent life’s paths, winding and twisting and ending up reaching the precious pearls, that repreent a beatuil, blessed life.
The earrings dangle on Sterling Silver Vermeil (Gold over Sterling Silver) earring wires, but, you can also order 14k Gold Filled wires as well.
These earrings are precious and unique, I only purchased one strand of these pearls, so I don’t have many left and the wire work is free hand, these are one of kind earrings.
If you want something unique, elegant and perfect for any occasion, these earrings are perfect.
Gold filled is the next best thing to pure gold! Gold filled is not the same as gold plated metal, it has a thick layer, 1/20th of solid 14K gold is permanently bonded to a base metal, usually brass. Gold filled jewellery is easy to care for and can last a lifetime!
Pearls are luxurious, they look and feel wonderful, they satiny smooth and comfortable to wear. Pearls look better the more you wear them because they absorb the natural oils from you skin, preserving them and enriching their luster.
Pearls are full of symbolism, they represent transformation, hope royalty and wealth. Imagine how tiny piece of sand gets trapped inside a mollusk (oyster and commonly mussels) and irritates it, then then the oyster releases a substance that coats the piece of sand and eventually forms a smooth, beautiful pearl. It's amazing how something that was once an irritant can become a beautiful and precious Gem.
