The Artist-Jacqueline Neves

Jacqueline Neves

I am a self taught jewellery artist. I was born and raised in Toronto Canada and I live in nearby Port Credit, a village situated beside the Credit River and Lake Ontario. I love the water, the wildlife, the many parks and walking trails. it's a wonderful place for an artist to live and create.

I’ve been creating jewellery most of my life and restoring vintage jewellery for over 25 years. I sell my fine sterling silver gemstone jewellery and unique upcycled costume jewellery at fine art shows, shops, and internationally online since 2009.

Transformation is the main theme of my work, transforming old into new, negative into positive, pain into beauty. I love to use something broken and discarded to create something beautiful and desirable.

My goal is to create sustainable, eco friendly jewellery with minimal impact on the environment. My favorite materials are recycled, upcycled and repurposed vintage sterling silver, gemstones, pearls, glass, beads, beach glass, etc., Many pieces are combined or made with new materials, most locally sourced.

During my many years restoring antique and vintage jewellery, specializing in vintage costume jewellery restoration, I have learned how to make high quality jewellery that will stand the test of time.

My style is eclectic with elaborate beaded, wire wrapped, and sculptural metal work designs. My work is inspired by my faith, the beauty of nature and water as well as my many years collecting and restoring vintage jewellery. Creating jewellery is part of my healing journey, an expression of my joy, gratitude.

♥ I love making jewellery, it’s a gift, therefore I make all my jewellery with prayers and blessings for a Long, Happy, Healthy, Peaceful & Prosperous Life.

My Artist Statement:

To see my jewellery is to catch a glimpse of my soul. My wearable, three-dimensional art transforms as it moves, becoming one with the body. Movement helps light reveal textures, colors, luster, and reflections like twinkling stars or sunshine on the water. Transformation is a major theme in my work, transforming old into new, negative into positive, pain into beauty. I love to use something broken and discarded to create something beautiful and desirable. I am inspired by nature, water, my faith, and everything beautiful. I try to use as many sustainable, earth and animal friendlier materials and methods of construction possible, Upcycling vintage gemstones, broken jewellery materials, beach glass, etc., they bring harmony to my work and contribute to my eclectic designs.
