Aqua Blue Freshwater Sea Glass Dolphin Shell Pendant Necklace-Lake Ontario

      I created this one of a kind, beach inspired necklace with Sterling Silver and rare piece of pale aqua blue freshwater Sea Glass, also called Beach Glass I found near my home, on Lake Ontario.

     I wrapped the pale blue color Sea Glass with the sterling silver wire to create a lovely pendant (28mm x 24mm) to dangle in the centre of the rolo style sterling silver chain along with a gorgeous three-dimensional Dolphin pendant (14mm long) on one side and a three-dimensional Shell (11mm) pendant on the other.

     The high quality, rolo style sterling silver chain fastens with a spring ring clasp.

     I love creating Sustainable, Eco-friendly jewellery with the rare pieces of beach glass / freshwater Sea Glass I find while walking along the shores of Lake Ontario. They are very difficult to find, so they are like precious gems to me.

     I wrapped the rare pale aquamarine color blue glass with a single piece of sterling silver wire to represent the movement of water, with swirls and coils, like eternal waves around the glass.

     This gorgeous freshwater sea glass / beach glass has been naturally Surf Tumbled in the lake. I used it just as it was when found on beach, I did not drill it or alter it in any way.

     Freshwater sea glass is rarer than common saltwater sea glass. It takes longer, at least 50 years or more for the broken pieces of glass develop the frosted, satiny smooth finish compared to the saltwater oceans.

    I feel a sense of peace when I can re-purpose/upcycle a found object, especially one that was once a broken discarded piece of glass that has been beautifully transformed by nature into a satin smooth treasure. These pieces of broken glass could have come from an old sunken ship or from an old bottle that fell into the lake, you can only imagine.

     Sea Glass and Freshwater Sea Glass represent peace and transformation. I feel a sense of peace when I can re-purpose a found object, especially one that was once a broken discarded piece of glass that has been beautifully transformed by nature into a satin smooth treasure.

     The aqua blue beach glass is an ethical alternative to Aquamarine for a March birthstone. This would be a fantastic Bridal gift or Something Blue gift or Bridesmaid gift, especially for a Beach wedding.
