I created this one of a kind, vintage inspired necklace with a fabulous combination of Upcycled & new materials. I cut and reshaped a Vintage Pin made of Rolled Gold or Gold filled metal and a stunning purple faceted stone (5.5mm). I don’t know if it is a genuine stone or not.
I used 14k Gold filled wire to wrap brilliant gemstones into briolette’s that dangle in a cluster from the base of the Vintage Gold.
A large faceted, deep purple Amethyst (13mm x 8mm) dangles in the centre of the cluster with 2 x Pale Amethyst (9mm x 5mm), 2 x Mystic Sapphire (7mm x 4mm).
This sparkly, purple and gold pendant dangles on a Vintage 14k Gold Filled chain (19” long).
Transformation is a major theme and inspiration in my work. I love to create Sustainable, Ethical jewellery by Upcycling / Re-purposing old Vintage Gemstones, Glass, Silver, Metals, beads, broken Vintage jewellery and more. It brings me peace to work with these Eco Friendlier materials and great joy to transform them into new creations, heirloom jewellery to be worn and loved for many years.
Gold Filled metal is the next best thing to solid gold! Gold Filled is not the same as gold plated. A thick 1/20th layer of Gold, usually 12K to 14K Gold is permanently bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal, usually jewelers’ brass (sterling silver was sometimes used in vintage jewellery). Gold filled jewellery is easy to care for and can last a lifetime! I use the highest quality new 1/20 14K G.F. metal and when I upcycled or reuse Antique and Vintage jewellery, it always comes from stamped pieces.
MATERIALS: 14k Gold Filled, Vintage Rolled Gold or Gold Filled (I am sure it is Gold Filled, but, it was not stamped), Amethyst, Mystic Sapphire and Love.
MEASUREMENTS: Chain measures 19” long
Pendant measures (4.4cm) 1 ¾” long from the tope of the pendant to the base of the large Amethyst
