Aqua Blue Beach Glass Feather Pendant

     I created this one of a kind, Beach Inspired Feather Necklace with solid Sterling Silver and a lovely piece of aqua blue Beach Glass, freshwater Sea Glass from Lake Ontario.

  Here in Port Credit, we have beautiful swans who grace us with their presence in the lake and Credit River. I see many large white feathers on the beach, little fluffy gifts.

      Feathers and Wings are inspiring symbols; they have special meaning to people all over the world. I think of Angels sent from God, symbols of Gods protection as written in the Bible: Psalm 91:4 “4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;”

     This rare piece of pale aqua blue piece of beach glass pendant (21mm long) looks amazing with the detailed three-dimensional Feather (17mm long), all tother the pendant measures (4cm) 1 5/8” long including the 6mm round bail.

    The pendant dangles on a high quality, Italian diamond cut Rollo style, Italian Sterling Silver chain. This necklace fastens with a spring ring clasp.

     I wrapped the aquamarine color blue glass with a single piece of Sterling Silver wire to create a playful little pendant. The single piece of wire represents the movement of water, never ending, like waves around the glass. The local swans love to relax on the beach, and they leave their lovely white feathers on the sand, so the feather and beach glass are perfect together.

   I hope you can see and be inspired by the joy and peace I felt while on the beach.  I think the beauty and peaceful feelings are gifts to remind us of Gods love for us.

     It is very rare to find a piece of aqua blue glass on the beach here on Lake Ontario, it’s like finding an aquamarine in the sand, they are just as precious to me.

   I used a single piece of wire to wrap each pendant, to represent the movement of water, with swirls and coils like eternal waves of water around the glass.

    I feel a sense of peace and joy when I can repurpose something that was once a discarded piece of broken glass that has been beautifully transformed by nature into a satiny smooth treasure. 

     I used the glass just as I found it on the beach. I did not drill or alter it anyway. The glass was naturally polished in the lake, tossed back and forward in the waves. 

  Beach Glass is also called Sea glass, but Sea Glass comes from the ocean or sea and Beach Glass comes from freshwater bodies of water, like this glass from Lake Ontario.

    The glass forms a smooth satin finish after being tossed around in the water, hitting the rocks for many years. The process takes much longer in the lake compared to the huge ocean waves therefore it can take 50 years or more to form a full satin finish.
